So following a weekend off for a National Trophy we are back on it this Saturday at Markeaton Park for round 7, this time organised by our friends at Derby Mercury. The second trip to Markeaton is often wetter, colder and leafier than the earlier round. This year looks likely to follow suit, with very wet and leafy ground conditions reported by course designers this week.
The course, however, is not just a wet muddy version of the earlier round, but is a totally different offering, masterminded by none other than Mr Steve Hand. It is going to be similar to last year, with the course starting in the opposite direction to the Cycle Derby course and heading straight down into the lower field, then climbing out. It consists of an outer and inner circle with some lovely flowing sections and some technical features. This year will not be using the technical gully drop but something equally as testing will feature instead, along with Markeaton’s cambered corners and at least one set of hurdles!
The U12s course will stay close to the car park and can be slippery and muddy.
The weather forecast is looking a tad chilly for the weekend, so dress up warm and see you on Saturday.
Venue post code is: DE22 4AA, remember the carpark is pay and display and it is regularly patrolled. High topped vehicles will need to take a right to avoid the barrier, this will be signposted.
