Race Preview / Notes for Saturday 31st event – Swadlincote

After another break for the Derby National Trophy, the SRAM NDCXL is back this weekend at Swadlincote, courtesy of Mercia CC Lloyds Cycles. This is the second year that this race venue has been used, and the organisers have promised some exciting developments to the course. Last year’s course was a mixture of flat sections to put the power down on, and tricky, technical sections on the wooded, banked areas. Expect extra doses of that technical, cambered fun this year!

Parking at the site isn’t without some restrictions, so there will be marshals available to help you park safely. Please work with them so we can get everyone in and out (remember there’s a need for keep good access for First Aid people etc). There will be additional parking slightly further down the road from the main hard standing – look out for the signs  marshal directions if the main carpark is full.

The weather looks like it’s finally changed a little in favour of the mud lovers, with the rest of this week up until Friday looking damp. Saturday itself is looking to be fine at this point though, and the site drains reasonably well – you might not need the jetwasher, but definitely leave the file treads at home.

UPDATE – please note, there’s no riding permitted on the football pitches – can we make sure everyone adheres to this please?

See you at Swad!

See notes above

Please bring your race licence, even if you pre-entered. If you cannot show your licence at signing on be prepared to buy a day licence.

Each rider will be issued with disposable back and arm numbers.

Back numbers should be positioned on the lower back with FOUR safety pins, one at each corner. Arm numbers should be positioned on the upper left shoulder, with FOUR safety pins, one at each corner.

It’s worth bringing your own pins as organisers’ supplies often aren’t infinite…

Although we have chip timing, this is not a 100% foolproof technology, especially when it’s wet and muddy. The judging lap team really need to be able to see your numbers as a back up to the electronic timing. If you want to guarantee you’re recorded as delivering the stunning ride you’ve put in, pin properly please!

Please dispose of your number carefully – carelessly discarded numbers may result in disqualification.

If you wish to accumulate League points through the 2015-16 season you need to do a couple of things:

  • Join the League, or be a member of a League affiliated club – details;
  • Ride in your correct Age category – Categories.
    • Reminder – Handlebar ends

The League does not permit bikes with bar ends in its races. It’s not a fashion thing, just safety.

      Equipment pits

The equipment pits will once again be divided into “manned” and “unmanned” areas – please use appropriately.

Reminder – the pits are a potentially dangerous work area and must be treated as such.

There is lots more information in the Riders – Useful information section.
