After a week’s break from NDCXL racing due to the National Trophy Round 1 at Shrewsbury, it’s back to our regular Saturday action this coming weekend. VC Nottingham will be hosting Round 5 at Bingham Leisure Centre.
Bingham can perhaps be considered one of the more ‘urban’ courses in the league, but what it lacks in natural wooded singletrack and hills, it makes up for in twists, turns and tricky banks. Last season the notorious banking stayed relatively dry, but if the weather continues to be wet, expect to be working hard to stay upright come Saturday. Last year’s particularly slippy corners at the lower end of the course have been removed (through the addtion of a new building on top of them!), but the organisers won’t be resting on their laurels, and have promised ‘some more tricky bits to keep everyone on their toes’!
With the league tables starting to take shape now, it’ll be interesting to see whether riders who rested up over Trophy weekend will have any advantage over those who rode at Shrewsbury, or whether that extra race will have sharpened up the legs even more for some. As things stand, most of the ‘top ends’ of the league tables still have less than 10 points separating the top couple of riders, so it’s still ‘all to ride for’, and the change in conditions is likely to introduce even more drama.
See you on Saturday!
