Round 2 – Cycle Derby’s Markeaton Park

cycle-derby-logo
This Saturday it’s Round 2 of NDCXL at Markeaton Park hosted by Cycle Derby CC.  As has been the norm in recent years the venue shows its Jekyll side and its Hyde side as it comes both early season and later in November when it tends to be soft and muddy… you can decide which one is Dr Jekyll and which is Mr Hyde!
The weather at the moment is looking good for riders and spectators alike; the surfaces should be fairly dry and the going good! The course is much the same as last year, perhaps the odd minor change with the monster hurdles (courtesy of Derby Mercury RC) in a more challenging location.  There will be the usual fast woodland tracks, grassy descents and leg sapping climbs!  MOST important are the EXCELLENT goodie bags on offer for the lucky U9 and U12’s!!
The venue is  near to DE22 4AA , the main entrance of Markeaton Park, DERBY, which is directly off Markeaton Roundabout (A38 junction A52), at Queensway exit. The car parking fees are £4.40 for the day, so please come prepared with change as NONE will be available at Race HQ. Parking wardens have been known to turn up on the day so please display a ticket.  There is a 2.2m high barrier at the entrance to the park, although there will be an alternative entrance (marked with BLUE arrows) for high vehicles.
We are hoping to have a couple of POPUP changing tents available, and would ask people to use them rather than the portaloos for changing!
Unfortunately there will not be a catering unit at Race HQ, but similar fare is available at The Orangery Café which is situated in the grounds of Markeaton Park, a short distance from the race venue. You may prefer to bring your own food and drinks… or why not use the occasion for a club bake-off bringing plenty of cake for your team mates and helpers?  Don’t forget to take a slice or two over to the timing tent between races, and a supply for the volunteer marshalls and commissaires!
Entry closes Tuesday 12th : Enter here
Happy Racing!
