ABC of Bingham (Awesome Banks and Cambers)

Now that the first round of the National Trophy is out of the way it is time to return to the serious business of the NDCXL. Those of you that tackled the fast dry course at Moorways, well done, and those of you that had a weekend of leisure, well done. For those that couldn’t let it go and went off in search of events elsewhere, I don’t know if I should praise your devotion or question your sanity!

Velo Club Nottingham are our hosts this Saturday as we head east to the ever-popular Bingham and see just what the banking has to offer. This one simple feature is the primary attraction of the course and it is ascended and descended in a multitude of ways, but the overriding factor is always the weather. Having contacted the organiser he tells me that, “Currently the course is in excellent condition after the recent dry spell – this may disappoint the more masochistic riders who like it to be slippery, but you never know with the weather in the UK anything can happen.” As always, tyre pressure and selection will be key, and the masters of the off-camber traverse will come to the fore.

Just a few points to note from the organiser:

The access to the event is off Tithby Road Bingham and not through the main Leisure Centre Car Park – the entrance off Tithby road will be marked and the parking should be marshalled as well.

The course goes round the football fields but the pitches themselves are out of bounds so please ensure that no bikes are ridden on the pitches. We want to keep this iconic venue.

If any clubs are proposing to turn up with their Gazebo could they contact Dave Gretton in advance so he can co-ordinate the allocation of spaces for them: davegretton@hotmail.com
