Race reviews:

Round 11Midland Champs – South Pennine RC & Bolsover & District CC – Hardwick Hall – 8th December – Venue is excellent, with the revised start and course were good. Clearer taping required. Problems were caused by use of podium for U9U12 riders, lack of recognition for veteran women and gridding for all starts.

Round 12 – Sherwood Pines Cycles SRAM RT – Sherwood Pines – 14th December – Improved course but pits too small. Accident where tape blown and rider hit post resulting in broken collar bone. Both U9 and U12 courses too long. High winds also made tents difficult. As ever the club could use more helpers.

Round 13 – Matlock CC – Bakewell Showground – 28th December – Excellent event for a first time organiser. Problems with sheep on or near to course. Parking needs more marshalling. A local ex-councillor kicked up a fuss over road access where crossed by course. Good facilities.

7

Prize presentation:

Tickets to be sold online via Ticketsource.co.uk.

ACTION: Mary Gill (MG) to set up account and publicise.

8

Trophies:

Half of trophies back – people to be chased.

Current trophy stock reviewed – with 6 to be replaces – Junior women which will take Viv Cox’s trophy. Mixed team trophy to be purchased. John Holmes (JH) to purchase Veteran women’s trophy.

1st, 2nd & 3rd in senior categories to receive glass trophies. U9 & U12 to receive medals – 10 per category.

Budget for trophies set at £2,000.

  • Proposer: Sarah Naylor (SN); 2nd: AN – For 10, Against 0, Abstained 0 – CARRIED
ACTIONS: SN, SH & AN to research trophies & MG to research cost of BC medals.

8

AOB:

John Holmes still needs Commissaires for final round – AN and SH volunteered to work with Mick Davis.

SH pointed out that there are more instances of average points going to youngsters.

AN reported on a worrying demand from one department of Nottingham City Council for a massive presence of First Aid cover at the planned Broxtowe Country Park event. Discussion has currently removed the problem but it’s a concern for the future.
